The route runs west across the Kolkheti plain, meets the coast around Ureki and then follows the sea south through Shekvetili and Kobuleti into Batumi. It is paved and flat throughout with no seasonal restrictions. The variable is summer traffic through the resort strip, which can add half an hour at weekends in July and August.
Because the resorts sit directly on the route, breaking the journey costs very little time. A stop at Ureki's magnetic sands or an hour in Kobuleti fits into the drive rather than extending it much, which makes this one of the more pleasant transfers in the region.

Arriving in Batumi
Batumi is compact compared with Tbilisi, but the seafront towers, the old town and the outer districts are still different drop-off points, and access to some hotel entrances is restricted during the season. A map pin makes the last five minutes considerably easier.
If you are continuing to Batumi airport rather than the city, it lies a few minutes south of the centre and the drive does not require crossing town. Guests flying out of BUS rather than KUT should say so at the booking stage, since the timing works from a check-in deadline rather than a hotel check-in.
Spa week, then the sea
The classic shape of a Georgian trip built around Tskaltubo is a week of treatments followed by several days on the coast. If that is the plan, book both legs at once — the transfer out to Batumi and the eventual run to whichever airport you fly from — rather than arranging each at the last minute.
It also makes sense to think about which airport you leave from. Batumi has its own, and if the coast is the final stop, flying out of BUS rather than returning across the country to KUT can save most of a day.
